The idea behind game channels is to create a secure, off-chain channel for transactions that is separate from the main blockchain network. When two parties open a game channel, they deposit a certain amount of cryptocurrency into the channel. This deposit acts as a collateral for the transactions that will take place within the channel. The parties then transact with each other, updating the channel’s balance sheet to reflect the changes in their relative amounts. These transactions are recorded on the channel and are not immediately reflected on the main blockchain network.

The advantage of using a game channel is that it greatly reduces the time and cost involved in recording transactions on the main blockchain network.
