What is Zk-SNARKs?

Zk-SNARKs (Zero-Knowledge Succinct Non-Interactive Argument of Knowledge) is a type of zero knowledge proof that enables one party to prove to another that they have knowledge of a certain piece of information without revealing the information itself. This is accomplished through the use of complex mathematical algorithms that generate and verify the proof. Who Invented Zk-SNARKs?

The term "Zk-SNARKs," an acronym for "zero-knowledge succinct non-interactive arguments of knowledge," was introduced by Nir Bitansky, Ran Canetti, Alessandro Chiesa, and Eran Tromer in their 2012 paper titled "From extractable collision resistance to succinct non-interactive zero knowledge proofs."
